ÖZGÜR ÖKTEM

Özgur Öktem was born in 1971 He earned his MD degree from Erciyes University School of Medicine in 1996, and finished his residency training in 2001 at the department of obstetrics and gynecology, Marmara University School of Medicine. Later, he continued his academic carrier in the USA where he completed postdoctoral fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility of Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York between 2003-2005. After completing his fellowship program, Dr. Oktem attended as a postdoc in the developmental and molecular cancer biology programs of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York between 2005-2008. He worked as attending staff and associate professor at American Hospital women’s health center assisted reproduction unit between 2008-2013.He is currently a full time professor of obstetrics and gynecology and assisted reproduction unit at Koc University Hospital and School of Medicine. Dr Oktem is also the founder and co- director of reproductive medicine master of science and reproductive medicine PhD programs in the Graduate School of Health Sciences at Koc University where he is mentoring Turkish and international students from different countries. He received several national and international awards including the President’s Distinguished Prize by the American Society of Gynecologic Investigations (SGI) in 2008, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine prize paper awards in 2013, 2015 and 2016, Turkish Society of Reproductive Medicine award in 2014 and Koc University Outstanding Faculty award in 2015 Sedat Simavi Foundation Health Science Award 2018 His clinical and research areas of interest include infertility, assisted reproduction techniques, preservation of fertility in cancer patients (oocyte/embryo freezing and ovarian tissue cryopreservation), molecular mechanisms of oocyte death post-chemotherapy, corpus luteum biology and luteal phase defect, endoscopic surgery (laparoscopy/hysteroscopy), premature menopause, polycystic ovarian syndrome.

AYLİN PELİN ÇİL

After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completing her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr Cil worked at Kirikkale University as an Associate Professor. She did a research fellowship on fertility preservation at New York University Cornell Weill Medical College in 2005 and worked as a visiting professor at University of San Francisco California Fertility Preservation Programme in 2012 In 2017 she completed “Harvard Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program '', where she received advanced training in leadership, clinical research, statistics, and epidemiology.

After moving to Istanbul, she worked at Memorial Hospital IVF Center and Bahçeci Health Group. Dr Cil is currently Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the American Hospital in Istanbul. Her major areas of interest are fertility preservation, oocyte cryopreservation in cancer patients and patients with diminished ovarian reserve, ovarian aging, polycystic ovary syndrome, and hysteroscopic surgery.

Dr Cil has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a reviewer for a number of journals. She is an active member of American Society of Reproductive Medicine and Turkish Society of Reproductive Medicine.

GÜVENÇ KARLIKAYA

Born in Düzce in 1967, Dr. Güvenç Karlıkaya completed his medical education in Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in 1991. He received the title of Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist from Ankara Zekai Tahir Burak and Istanbul Zeynep Kâmil hospitals, where he worked as an assistant doctor in 1992-1997 after his emergency medicine practice at Düzce State Hospital between 1991-1992.

He worked as a research assistant at SUNNY at Brooklyn, NY, USA between 1997-1999, and contributed to the first human studies on “fertility preservation and ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation”. He worked as a gynecology and obstetrics assistant at New York Medical College, NY, USA between 1999-2000.

After returning to Turkey, between 2000 and 2011 he worked as infertility and IVF specialist in Istanbul Memorial Hospital IVF Center. Since 2011, Dr. Karlıkaya has been working in Bahçeci Fulya IVF Center.

His areas of special interest are ovarian stimulation protocols, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, fertility preservation methods. Dr. Karlıkaya has published over 20 articles and 3 book chapters in international journals and has a book on ovulation inductions in IVF. He is a member of several professional societies including European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology (ESHRE), American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), Turkish Society of Reproductive Medicine (TSRM), Turkish Obstetrics and Gynecology Society (TJOD) and Turkish Society of Fertility Preservation (TSFP).

KAYHAN YAKIN

Prof. Dr. Kayhan Yakın was born in 1969 in Ankara. He graduated from Hacettepe University, School of Medicine in 1993 and completed his residency at the Ankara University, School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1998 He started working on reproductive medicine at Ankara Sevgi Hospital Reproductive Endocrinology and Genetics Unit in 1998 and co-established the Reproductive Endocrinology and Assisted Reproduction Unit at Istanbul Memorial Hospital in 2000 Prof. Yakın has been working as an attending physician at Koç Health Group American Hospital Women’s Health Centre since 2002 and professor in obstetrics and gynecology at Koç University School of Medicine since 2013 Prof. Yakın is certified in embryology and andrology laboratory practices in assisted reproduction and he is going through the reproductive medicine PhD program in the Graduate School of Health Sciences at the Koç University. Prof. Yakın has published extensively on reproductive biology, endocrinology, genetics and health, endometriosis and endoscopic surgery. He is an active member of several national and international scientific committees and professional organizations.

MUSTAFA BAHÇECİ

Prof. Mustafa Bahçeci graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1980 and completed his specialization in obstetrics and gynecology in the same faculty in 1985. He worked as a lecturer in Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, received his Associate Professorship degree in 1991 and Professorship in 2000.

After carrying out specialty studies on IVF at Wayne State University in Detroit, USA in the early 1990s, Prof.Bahçeci established German Hospital IVF Center in Istanbul in 1996. Having accomplished many successful studies and “firsts” in Turkey, he founded Bahçeci Health Group, which has nowadays become Turkey’s and the region's largest independent chain of ART centers. He is currently the Chairman of the Board in the company.

Prof. Bahceci has more than 100 publications and articles in national and international journals/books. He is the Founding President and Board Member of Turkish Society for Fertility Preservation (TSFP). He is also a member of Turkish Gynecology Association, European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).

NECATİ FINDIKLI

Born in Silivri in 1973, Dr. Necati FINDIKLI completed his undergraduate education in Molecular Biology & Genetics at Boğaziçi University and his master's degree in Bioengineering at Bilkent University in the same field. He started his professional career as a Research Scientist in Institute of Cancer Research, London. In 2000, he moved into the field of reproductive medicine and started to work in Memorial Hospital IVF & Genetics Centre as Clinical Embryologist & R&D Laboratory Director. Between 2006 and 2012, he worked as IVF Laboratory Director as well as Scientific Consultant in several prestigious hospitals and foreign healthcare institutions. He joined Bahçeci Health Group in 2012 as the director of IVF laboratories. He has been working as Scientific Director in the same organization since 2016 Dr. Findikli has more than 30 articles and 10 book chapters in the field of reproductive medicine & genetics. His special interests include gamete and embryo cryopreservation, reproductive genetics, reproductive system stem cells, digitalization as well as application of artificial intelligence in IVF.

He currently serves as the Secretary General in the Turkish Society of Fertility Preservation (URSAK; TSFP). Necati FINDIKLI is also a founding member and current President of the Turkish Society of Clinical Embryology (KED). He is an active member in several international societies including European Society of Human reproduction & Embryology (ESHRE), American Society of Reproductive medicine (ASRM). Dr. Findikli is also a lecturer at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Beykent University, Turkey.

UĞUR SELEK

Ugur Selek graduated from Hacettepe University, School of Medicine (English), in 1997, and was certified by ECFMG in USA. He completed his Radiation Oncology Residency Program in Hacettepe University in 2001. Between 2001 and 2003, he worked at University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, as a Clinical Fellow focusing on IMRT and Stereotactic Radiotherapy, and was awarded with "First Annual M.D. Anderson Radiation Oncology Fellow Research Award" in 2003. After his appointment as Assistant Professor in 2004, he became an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Hacettepe University in 2006. Dr Selek is currently Professor & Chair of Department of Radiation Oncology at Koc University School of Medicine, as well as being an adjunct Professor of U.T. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Chair of American Hospital-MD Anderson Radiation Treatment Center in Istanbul since 2009. Dr. Selek is an editor of Turkish Journal of Oncology, reviewer for a number of international journals, co-editor of 6 Springer books, and has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. He has been awarded as ASTRO Fellow (FASTRO) in 2019. He is a member of ASTRO International Education Subcommittee, and past secretary general of “Turkish Society of Lung Cancer” and “Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology”.
